how 2 stream video from xp sp2 to xbox 360?

hi all, i wondered if any one off you have some experience on this..

i have a pc with win xp sp2 and mediaplayer 11. i can watch picture's and play movies from the pc on my xbox 360, but i can't stream video on it.. according to the xbox guide stuff i should get a media center pc, but i don't want that...

is there an other way to do this? please let me know

nope you have to have a media center pc. I had vista rc2 and i could stream my bro had xp media and i could stream but there isn't a way to do video on xp sp2 sry!)

Thats kind of sorry. In other words, if you get a media center 2005 or whatever the os is, you should be able to do it. Though, I Thought with XP you could stream video wirelessly...

Hmmm maybe the updated it on wmc. thats good then i can stream vid. (although my hacked xbox works Just fine for it)

could be, but i use wired lan so thats not an option..

i think it's realy stupid that you should buy a media center pc to do this, maybe it's a way to
get people buy this stuff?

everyware you find that you need a media center, and i was googlin around and found this.
here microsoft says it CAN be done

but when i select video @ the media tab it just says that er is no HDD.( i indeed don't have it)

wmv is the only supported format for streaming. You can try vlc360, it says you need media center, but it's worth a shot. If it works, you can stream anything vlc will play. Your computer has to be pretty powerful tho, as it re-encodes the files to wmv on the fly.

for those of us not in the know, is this just an xbox360 thing? ive got dvds ive ripped on my bsd server and they stream just fine wirelessly to my XP laptop plugged into my tv via s-video.

mp3's, wmv, wma, etc.....

it wont do divx or xvid movie, mp4's, atrac and as on.

but there is a hack out there you convent divx (and the others) on the fly so able you to play these formats on the 360.

EDIT: vlc360 requries Windows MCE

finaly!

hi there sorry it took me so long too respond but i've bin very busy...

tonight i finaly streamed video!!!!!

the problem was dat my xbox was not updated for streaming, and normaly if u use
xbox live you recieve the nessery update, but i only game online with my pc.

so i found out that you can update by selecting " join xbox live" without become a member..

quitte easy after all, but i took me months too get it going lol

hope this story will help other people..

this may not help but what kinda tv ae u gt, if u gt one with hdmi, just buy the cable and plugged into ur comp and just play it like that so it plays on ur comp but watch it on the tv.

i do have hdmi on my telly, but the issue were how too stream it lol...

i don't want my pc's in my living room, they have there own room

but it works fine now!
