NVIDIA G81 rumored to be on a 65 nanometer process

In the recent DX10 graphics card war, NVIDIA has gotten a very long headstart. Not only has NVIDIA had enough time to develop watered-down versions of their G80 for selling as entry-level and midrange cards, but they've also had time to develop "G81". The current specs of what G81 could be are currently unknown, but it does have one major goal- a shrink to a 65 nanometer process. This would represent a gigantic step in the graphics card world, as GPU makers have barely made the step to 80nm GPU's recently. It would also, like most die shrinks, decrease power input and heat output.

If they produce a 65nm G81 and there is a nice bump up in performance/image quality, Nvidia will be my first card in over 10 years.

This is what I have been waiting for. If it is anything like the G70 to G71 transition I will be very pleased.

They may have had a headstart with DX10, but they are having driver issues, as reported on another news story here today. However, this looks like a good thing, die shrink, less heat and less power, but more powerful. Im sure DaaMiT isnt far behind.

nvidia hasnt produced ANY dx10 cards eather, they are dx9 cards till nvidia can put out a FULLY WORKING DX10 DRIVER.

till that day nvidia isnt any closer to having a dx10 card then amd, amd at least are waiting for there to be a dx10 to sell dx10 cards, and im pretty damn sure that when these new r600 cards come out they will have WORKING VISTA DRIVERS(aka dx10).

only fools rush in, its an old saying but it fits the tech market, with video cards from nvidia its especly fitting, i got an fx5800ultra when they where NEW, guess what, they ended up being uttely useless for dx9 when it hit, hope that dosnt happen to the 8800cards, but even if it does im sure 8800 owners will just shrug it off and say "it looks just as good in dx9 mode anyway" as they did with the fx line and dx8 vs dx9(halflife2 looks 100% better in dx9 mode BTW)

so basically, till nvidia has WORKING PROVEN dx10 support guess what, they have NO dx10 support!!!

not even mentioning xbox360 which, i believe, should make ATI's dx10 working the day they start to ship it...
