Softmod difficulties

Hi, I'm a long time user of the 9800se -> pro softmod, but recently some problems have come up (after a reformat). When I installed the drivers, I experienced a problem that I had had much earlier. In this problem, the 9800se I use frequently becomes disrupted and irregular lines and colors appear on the desktop while all control over the image is lost. VPU recover initializes. After uninstalling and reinstalling different versions of these drivers, and the Omega drivers, as well as ATI Catalyst original drivers, the problem still occurs. Even after another reformat, the problem remains. Earlier, I had fixed it with a reformat (so I assumed there was a problem related to the drivers) but now that doesn't seem to work. I don't know if this is the right category to post this in, but I'm pretty lost and need some help. Could someone please offer advice?

Try setting your core and mem to a lower MHZ.

If that doesn't help, nothing will.
