There isn't a way to ban someone from a section. It is just up to that user to stay away if it is that much of an issue. Asking to be banned means exactly that, in the context of all of TPU.

All right, then I hereby ban myself from that section. Sorry friends, but there are more anti-friends than friends. (At least insincere people or contemptuous people who dislike me for some reason.)

It's hard to enforce it upon myself, but what shall I do? Do a virtual "pinkie handshake" with you and say my vows?

I just unsubscribed from all those threads! Thanks anyways for explaining, Sneakypeet. You probably know that the Graphics section is usually the most controversial section with the most arguments/flame wars/fanboys, etc...

exactly due just put him on your ignore list. people are on mine im on peoples. doesnt hurt my feelings of course youll be tempted to see what they say but you only have yourself to blame for getting angry at a post you blocked from yourself. and remember the internet is for info and all sorts of stuff. basically this is the internet.

he has quite a few infractions in his list. I wont go into details, or state either way that they're related to the posts you've mentioned - but he does have them regardless.

We deal with the posts as we see fit, and we do not advertise it to the other parties when we do so.

You are "the bad guy" for breaking a forum rule (triple posting) and then wasting everyone's time with a forum-wide tirade against steevo. One reported post or PM is enough, period.

Oh and we cant ban people per section. its a total ban from the site, or no ban.

I think this place is the absolute best. From my experience as I am new I have nothing but good things to say about it.
We are dealing with people and personalities here, and that is always a tough thing to deal with.

I would be the first to admit..... at times I can be VERY cynical, over my 49 years my faith in human nature has declined to a worrying degree....... only to be dragged back up by some act of complete individual generosity or just warmth, whilst most of this is in the "real world" and not on the interwebz...... one example of that sits here in these forums...... where a well known and respected cruncher from another forum suffers from cancer (and has now sadly died), members here raise some money to help him as he was not well enough to work towards the end and he had a young daughter...... truly heartwarming stuff, more importantly though, just one example of why this community is as good as it REALLY is, however, despite my Cynical outlook on occasions....... I am very happy!

This thread, "what's wrong with our forums" is about strategic, constructive, criticism. It is not a place to start a personal witch-hunt, or attempt a public vendetta, or to whine and threaten bean spilling.

The last 3 pages are just this. Indulgence in self-righteousness. It's unattractive.

This thread shouldn't be. Simple.
No matter how good the intentions may be, there will always be scope for abuse. A thread like this is almost an invitation for some to do exactly that.
We all know how constructive critisism (fwiw) is easily abused or misunderstood, especially in the written form.
As a global moderator on a help forum, we employ a Live Help system, which can double as a complaints area, by being able to utilise something akin to a private chat room a la IRC.
Disputes of any kind need to be handled away from the public eye. A thread like this one, puts it all back into the open - right in the view of the general public; the very people that shouldn't see, or be exposed to, this.
Think about disputes out in the open; on the street or in a shop. How do people feel when there are others arguing publicly?

Disputes should be kept private: either through PMs, or some other form, that can directly address the points of view of all parties concerned & come to an amicable conclusion (whichever way that goes).
Ultimately, a forum is only as good as the people that frequent it. Whether moderation is applied badly, or not at all, is important, but less important than the first impression people get when first joining or browsing. It sets the mood..
Everytime someone posts here, it will show right at the top, so people go here first. That's not necessarily a Good Thing™ for a potential patron..

thats the point. they play up and cause crap HERE, not on the rest of the forum. There are legit complaints/criticisms, and there is BS crapola - both of them belong here.
