Didn't want to start a whole thread just for this, but I have a request/slight issue with the PM feature on TPU.
I always use the "sort by sender" feature in my inbox, but when I try to use it in "Sent items", it doesn't work. Obviously because I am the sender
Is there any way to sort by recipient instead of sender in the sent items box?

Or should I have started a TPU Input/Feature request thread?

guess you should do a new thread, it would probably be seen faster

EDIT: W1zzard is watching so no need anymore I guess

Can we get a User CP tab on the main page?
Kinda dumb but it would be convenient!

I just link myself directly to the forums, and then go to the main page if need be

Can the sort by sender in sent items be resolved?

i did look into this and there seems to be no easy way. the forum tracks _one_ sender per pm but _multiple_ recipients. so there is no easy database field to sort on

maybe rethink the PMing system to have one main recipient and then CCs if need be, so that it is sorted by main recipient?

Or perhaps separate all the multiple recipients (ie: sent message to A, B and C, in the sent folder there will be 3 identical messages with each a different recipient)? (take each value of _multiple_recipients)

Just trying to give ideas, but if it is too much work, thanks for looking into it anyways

It depends on the torrent. Torrenting is nothing but a delivery system. Many legal, many not legal. Do you have any links of this behavior in regards to "warez" type activity?

I know mussels host awesome torrents I know he hosted the leaked RTM version of SP1, which may be illegal, but nothing that can't be found easily in a direct link. Else AFAIK all his other torrents were 100% legal.

Apart from that I have not seen any mods etc link to illegal torrents.

i agree 980% torrent or whatever it named just a tool.
legal or not it depends on how use it, maybe some use it to get things illegally and coz of this some may mark its not legal. but personally i say it depends on what you do with that

Yup, it's like calling a photocopier illegal, because you can copy a book with it.

It's only Big Media fronted by the RIAA/MPAA and various other rich and powerful interests that demonize p2p/file sharing and torrents holding up "copyright" as some kind of holy f* grail and use it to abuse people and organizations smaller than them all the time.

Two really excellent sites on this subject are:

www.p2pnet.net

www.techdirt.com

One of the things that getting on my tits at the moment are the amount of people on single post accounts just signing up for the BitFenix competition. I doubt even half of those motherf***ers are gonna stay with the site and carry on posting.

I know the competition is open to everyone but If a guy whose made 1 fricking post just to enter the competition then never shows his face in TPU again before and after he wins the competition, it seems mighty unfair for the guys who have been with TPU for many years and DESERVE to win - know what i mean??

and with the amount of single post accounts that have recently registerd just to enter the competition. the competition is going to be unfairly skewed.

There are long term members here that deserve to win. not some prat that registerd specifically just to enter it and not come back or make an effort to mesh with the community we have here down at TPU.

obviously I cant stop you restricting who gets to enter the competitions.

HOWEVER

I suggest restricting some future competitions 'long term' members only. e.g people that have been with the forum for at least 6months or 1 year

Because this shit is just retarded.

your language is a bit off, but i agree with the sentiment.

opening it to everyone may draw people to the site temporarily, but dont we want them to stick around?

most wont even remember TPU exists unless they win. thats why i agree with you on having some more requirements for the competitions.

the GPU-Z comp being open to all makes sense, but if we're gunna have forum based competitions, at least make it so members win, not randoms who never come back. repeated competitions like this will result in people sticking around so they can enter the next one (with far higher chances of winning, due to less overall contestants)

I'm with Freedom on this. And I can understand why you worded it so darn strongly, dude. It is annoying.

I think we're all in favour of having the competitions limited in some way. Would 512* posts minimum be reasonable? I dunno the answer to this, as the limit is somewhat arbitrary, so I'm open to suggestions.

*Note the power of 2. This is a geek tech forum, after all.

Wouldn't people simply spam until they have those posts and then leave? Posting 512 posts in a couple of weeks isn't so hard.

I don't think hundreds of spam posts would get past our crack team of mods here , so it wouldn't be a problem.

However, if someone posted 512 quality posts, won the competition and then disappeared, is that so bad really? They will have contributed to the forum and earned the right to win it. And if someone's had to invest so many posts, they're more likely to stay, too.

Perhaps the limit could be 1024 or 2048 posts? This is definitely a grey area and one to be discussed further.
