Can we forbid Christine from signing her posts? How pretentious does she need to be? We know who she is by now.

Hell, over at HardForum, signing your posts can get you banned or warned. It's what the signature space is for.

I don't think it's that big of a deal.

signing a post is no different to having a sig or an avatar pic. i dont think there should even be a discussion about that, unless it offends someone (swearing, etc)

I agree that it is completely pointless, though what good would forbidding it do? If he/she (you never know) wants to sign his/her/a name under every post, let him/her enjoy his/herself. It's not like it's offensive in any way.

Why are we throwing around the word offensive? I'm not going to complain to the Civil Liberties Union or anything. It's downright silly though. Speaks a lot about the kind of person she is, considering her tendency to provide kindling.

Oh well. Thought I'd try.

What word do you suggest we use instead of offensive? Offensive is a good word.

A good but irrelevant word. It's not about being offensive or me offended. I'm not angry or frustrated or appalled. I only care because I'm particular like that. It's silly and pretentious.

I never questioned her gender, nor have I ever cared. I'm sure other people sign their posts. What's the point? We see your username and your avatar, and your giant signature. We know who made the post.

Really? I thought such a thing was impossible! haha,

I think everyone gets along quite well here, i mean some comments and some people have to be taken with a pinch of salt sometime but when it comes down to it everybody here is willing to help each other, and that is what makes this community such a great one!

I mean one example:

Candle and I, lets be honest we don't really get on that well, and we do have very different views on a range of things, but just now help was offered by Candle to me, and i VERY much appreciate it, so thank you Candle_86
It's things like that, that makes this community so great. Yea it's a Tech site/forum and I whole heartedly admit that i know squat about computers and technology (D9s, 280 = a me) but the people here are good people when it comes down to it.

If Christine's little name thing irritates you, don't read it. That's what i do, of course i do read it, i just disregard it straight away.

I already ignore her posts. As soon as I see -Christina I skip to the next post. She rarely says anything of interest (to me) or substance.

it will be a tough life, candle.

We should quit with this sexist discussion. Problems relating to a particular member isn't what this thread covers, the PM system and moderators do.

It's subjective, so don't worry about it. It can't be any worse than Trip recommending I put her on my ignore list.

Anyway, sorry about getting away from the actual (non-)issue of signing posts.

You know what i would like, for all of us to meet up one day and have a social drink, i mean so many things can get lost, or pulled out of context via forums where no real body language can be interpreted - and i think is where a great deal of the problems arise, people taking things out of context from what the original poster intended.

Pay for my ticket and I'll come to England
The international nature of the forum makes it rather unrealistic. Plus, I'm afraid to find out how many of you are geeks :P

if he wants to meet up for a drink, that'd mean he's somewhat not a geek - he can at least go outside at night

lol, i'm no geek that's for sure, and yes i know the international stakes means it's very unlikely. still nice thought though.
