1ab. Issues with the X1950PRO (Reference PCB) + VF900

Quote:
VF900CU users SHOULD invest in extra heatsinks for the VRMs, as the X1950PRO with the reference board, being the Sapphire, Diamond, ASUS, powercolor use them. Once removing the cooler, the cooling for the VRMs is gone. If you do not want to go through with such a hassle then, buy an AcceleroX2 with the VRM Plate. Powercolor Extreme Models have ceramic heatsinks preinstalled thus eliminating the need for it.

After removal of the standard cooler that part of the PCB should look like this

That is how the reference cooler looks like, anything similar after removal WILL NEED VRM HEATSINKING!

For AcceleroX2 Users (if it doesn't come with it): http://cgi.ebay.com/VR-Heat-Spreader...QQcmdZViewItem.

2ab. Stock cooler issues with X1950PRO

Quote:
For those guys who have this cooler (regardless of decals, etc) displayed here:

It is not very efficient, imho, at full fan speeds its a duster buster. Thus to greatly improve performance without changing the cooler buy a single slot blower. This will suck air from the outlet of the GPU fan, thus making the cooler more efficient. Aftermarket cooling is another viable option but remember what was posted above.

Brands like Gigabye and Jetway both use the old and cluttered VRM methods, but they do not need coooling, thus go crazy with your aftermarket cooling.

Note that for every 10*C increase in temperature, the part you have will fail two times quicker effectively.
