7300GT-AGP problems

Im currently having problems with my 7300GT AGP ( Sparkle Brand ) as my 7900GT is under RMA.

It basically displays a black screen when running 3d applications like 3dmark or other games like C&C demo, supreme commander, warcraft 3 ect ect.. what comes out partly fine is that Rising force online is rendered but w/o a GUI... all Dxdiag d3d tests run fine...

ive used driver cleaner to wipe out the previous driver installation and already made a reinstall of the AGP drivers...

ive tried changing to different driver versions no avail...

my motherboard is a Asrock Dual SATAII bios version 2.30.. on another PC the video card displays 3d perfectly fine..

Are you sure its not trying to run the apps in a resolution/refresh rate the card cannot handle?

Example: 7900 was set to run 1600x1200 w/ 6xaa, and the new card cant handle it so it crashes.

No it doesnt crash at all.. even 3d apps that run in a window mode ( like 3d demo's ) dont display anything at all.. the 7300gt can handle 1600x1200 @ 85hz .. but we did try testing at different resolutions... only RF online came out halfway fine....

could this be an issue with the HSI PCIe to AGP bridge chip on the card?

Hmm, sounds like a problem with Direct X, try re-installing direct x 9.0c, you may have some corrupted files. You can download this from the microsoft website, or it usually comes as part of the installation with some recent games.

if window mode doesnt work, update directX as zalmann said.

Also check DXdiag and ensure all the acceleration options are on.

For the final check - since its AGP, make sure the motherboards AGP drivers are installed, then reinstall the video driver.
