ram oc.s better with out ram sink.s?

i have 2x ddr1 512mb stick now ther i call speshal bga ones cus hard to find ddr1 bga chips any way

each one had a copper heat spreader on it with a lil artic silver 5 on each ram chip

an i allways seamed to have ishews (evin thow the ram could hit 266mh ddr533)
an [ther was no heat paste on any pins or conectors][nor wer the heat sink clips tuching any thing on the back of the ram]

so i get fed up haven probs an take both heat spreaders off the ram an cleaned them up

now im hitten 273mh an seams stable as ever ?????????

i allways have a fan on the ram so cookin shouldent be a worry

the hole time i have bin useing under 2.8v for the ram [ram stock speed is ddr400]

an cas timeings seam to do allmost nothing but was the same before

allso if any one knows any good programs for cheakin speed of ram cus my bios says 272mh for ram an cpu-z seas 256mh whos lieing

my fsb is at 234mh with ddr set at 233mh so i should get around 266mh for the ram ddr533

Wow.

They make a free spell check for firefox.

But. AS5 is capacitive, and could have done much more damage. I just reset the heatsink on my graphics card and used MX1, I believe it is non conductive, and much safer to use on close components.

I followed the first one, and all I got from the second was that he got some paste on the pins....

I have as of yet to use it. Just non conductive? MX1 spreads like shit, so it kinda sucked trying to get a coat on the mofset heatsink, it was the one I redid. I ended up putting a thin film on then little drops of paste on each mofset.

yeah, it spreads a lot easier than MX1. I hate that stuff! Don't get me wrong, it works great, but the application of the damn stuff is a nightmare!

Hey Curt, if you are applying AS5 to your memory chips (which I would never do), only apply a very very small amount to each chip and never get it on any metal parts. Otherwise just use the ceramique, or find some thermal conductive tape.

if you've already applied the paste and it's working ok, stop re-doing it!! You've got more chance of of damaging them.
