Depends how you look at it. It's been out for a while. Don't quote me on it, but I'm pretty sure I read PCIe X32's around the corner.

First of all, don't bump. If you want an answer within 18 minutes call some expensive helpdesk.

To answer your question, PCIe works with lanes, each lane gives a certain amount of bandwidth. Combining multiple lines simply gives more bandwidth. PCIe x4 means 4 lanes.

Each lane gives you 250MB/s, both upstream and downstream, for a half GB/s total.
and yes, PCI-e II is comming soon, it will double the clockspeed for double the bandwidth.
