socket 478 motherboard
Which is the best motherboard for P4 s478? It has to be the best overclocker. I wouldn't mind having AGP but I would prefer PCI-E. I don't mind if it has DDR or DDR2 but the second is more preferred. I don't care about any other extras.

The best overclocking motherboards for skt478 use AGP and DDR and you can only find them used these days. You don't really need DDR2 in an older skt478 it's not worth the upgrade. My computer scores higher in sciencemark that my brother's even though he has DDR2 and I don't. Looking around I don't see many new skt478 motherboards that I would even consider buying.
See if you can find one of these on e-bay Abit IC7 Asus P4C800 Deluxe Asus P4P800 Deluxe MSI 875P NEO-FIS2R MSI 865PE Neo2 Platinum

This is what I have and it works great. I can get a stable 3.8Ghz (1000Mhz FSB) overclock without any problem.

the MSI mobos are solid but usually limited in terms of top end FSB overclocks compared to the ASUS boards
