Thermalright HR-09 MOSFET Cooler

In return to all end-user requests for an aftermarket MOSFET cooler, Thermalright developed a new product called HR-09 (from High-Riser series) MOSFET cooler. The HR-09 MOSFET cooler with its patented design will cool the motherboard's MOSFET area for a stable operation not only under normal conditions but also when you increase the frequency and voltage to overclock. Now heat is no more an issue. The HR-09 comes in two distinctive designs and types (sold separately): HR-09U and HR-09S. The difference lies in positioning and orientation of the fins and heatpipe for maximum compatibility with various motherboards and CPU coolers.

Anyone who goes this is crap deserves to buy it themselves... All the thermalright coolers are amongst the best air coolers.
Man I reckon this is quite a good idea but... how are we supposed to fit it?

As long as its one of these motherboards you won't have any problems fitting the HR-09.

It's a good idea, but in this case, an overkill, and it won't make your VC run any faster.

NIce to see alot of motherboard manufacturers are left off of here. Id like to see Abit supported as I would definately buy a few packages of these. I believe its around 10 bucks for a pack of 4, according to CPU magazine. Sucks though, my mobo isnt on that list.

Currently, I am running a rock solid FSB233 on a FSB200 Pentium 4 Xeon system thanks in HUGE part to my own custom high frequency mosfet coolers. These HR-09's should allow even more OC. I have booted and ran for a short time at FSB245 before the heat problems started. With these sinks, I bet FSB245 would be stable! Quad pumping would mean an effective FSB of 980 on a DDR based system. With timings at 2.5-2-2-5, the result would be very competitive with the newer machines of today.

Note I've attached a couple CPUZ charts for the dual Xeon machine I am running - The mainboard is the Iwill DH800.

I don't think AMD based systems will benefit in the same way.

: Either way, 10 bucks or 20 bucks isnt a bad price. Two packs is all anyone should need. Now, they just need to make them compatible to a few of our boards.

Nice, it actually has an mounting brackets and push pins. Have seen it on their site long ago, but no mention about installation and was afraid it would be some supersticky tape thingy. Still might be that too, doesn't say if it adhesive from just one side. Too many boards (cheaper ones) come without any cooling on mosfets and I'll propably use some memory heatsinks there if my future mobo doesn't have any cooling, but this looks nice too.

Now there are some motherboard out there that only have a heatsink on 3 of the phases between the rear conector and CPU, but none on the fourth. Or like in Asus P5B Deluxe 4 phases with and 4 without. Never have I understood this kind of desicion, rather have none than on half. But looks like this mobo would be the perfect one to need one.

It does support P5B... it has the same settings as P5B deluxe. THey have just not added it on the list.

Nope, P5B doesn't have holes in the mosfet area, so it's not supported, because you can't mount it, even if it would fit.

Although the Striker Extreme is in the compatibility list, the short side of these coolers won't cover all the MOSFETs, and the long side won't allow installation of the pushpins into the mobo.
I guess thermal adhesive is an option?
