10/10 it's not an i7 but the dual 4890s make up for that.

8.5/10
You dont specify clocks, and its only 3GB of ram on a 'small' (smaller than mine, at least) screen. also, not much storage.

will give an update score should your OC change that - will edit this post. edit: 8.8 you have a lot of CPU power, and good GPU power (and the same PSU as mine) but other than that, theres too much stuff inferior to mine. If you've read the thread, you'll note i rate myself a 9.0 and then compare other systems to mine - if it takes two 4870's and 8GB of ram to get a 9.0 out of me, dont feel too bad - you need a true monster to get higher in my ratings.

Just did. Oh yes - even the mighty GTA IV doesn't use more than 2GB of RAM. So more than 4GB's is just showing off - unless you are using a lot of apps.
My CPU crushes yours. Why are you using 8GB's? My sistem will be faster in any non-GPU benchmarks... Last edited by Galaxy; Aug 11, 2009 at 04:37 PM. |

Welcome to the TPU forums ... ![]() Nice system you have there...nice OC on the i7. I like the mix of your components and your system looks to have plenty of room for expansion if you want. Great HHD, but I would add at least another 640 and if that ASUS board runs Tri-channel, I'd put in another 3GB of DDR3....Love the case, very nice for cooling. All around nice system.... ..... 9/10*+

The lame, poorly coded GTA IV will never use lots of ram, cause its a console port from a system with less than 512MB of ram. who gives a damn about benchmarks - i'm a gamer. i'll get better FPS than you at higher resolutions on a larger screen - games dont support 8 threads so you have no advantages there, and you have a massive negative in power consumption. my rating system is harsh - i am not impressed by the latest and most expensive hardware, it has to be for a purpose.

i have to agree with Mussels as far as RAM goes and thread count.
I used 3GB of RAM with my i7 at first, its horrible. That just doesn't cut it nowadays. Also HT during gaming is actually a loss in performance. However I don't disable it because both of my rigs crunch 24/7, which the more threads the better

You can game on it? :P Good for net and old games (>2005), office use as well. Rate my rig, don't forget to look at my new RAM timings and 4850 clocks.
