That's a bit high in my opinion. You get 9/10.

Lol Thanks man!

And usually i'd have given you a 8.75/10. But now because of the custom spray job, i think i'll give you a 9.25/10

7.75/10

Need a sound card, more storage, better monitor, faster storage, higher cpu, and/or better cooling for more points. Listed in order of importance. The first 3 rate very heavily for me, especially sound, the last 3 not nearly as heavy. Still a damn solid rig.

Cases do not weigh into my ratings at all. I find it hard to think that way. I'm a function before form kind of guy.

Tax return time. 6 months ago or so? On sale for $130 at the time when the cheapest was $150. Awesome addition. Beleive it or not, single layer BD's are cheaper per GB than dual layer DVDs, despite being more expensive per disc. And they also coaster less than a DL DVD.

Looks like you can get a BD burner for $100 these days.

7/10 for you buddy.

Need a better cpu (quad at least), sound card, better monitor, faster storage and/or better cooling for more points. Again, order of importance.

Wow! Can't beleive today is the first I've really paid attention and noticed. I may have to look into getting one, they work well for strictly storage or is there any software to transcode home video avi's to them yet for stand alone players? I dont see the sound card beign an issue or the monitor(usually game at 1080p on the 42" with 2xAA). Funny thing is I thought you would point out ram being a slouch. LOL

Thanks for the rate!

Ram has less effect on real world performance these days, tho CAS7 is a little on the loose side. CAS6 would be better, or 1600Mhz at that CAS7. I did miss that it was only 2GB tho, so add it to the list. lol.

As far as monitors, I'm just picky. If it's not P/MVA or IPS, it's not good to me. Most HDTVs are, but they aren't practical for 24/7 use. Thus, I feel you need a good 24/7 monitor.

And sound cards are ALWAYS an issue. lol. On-board = crap, period. Even an old Audigy 2 ZS blows away the best on-board out there.

And there are a few options for converting videos to BD for set top players. If the video is already encoded with a codec that BD player can play, TSmuxer can handle the task. I use multiple programs to manipulate for BD, but I am weird in that I want total control over my encodes. So I usually use handbrake or mediacoder to convert to an H.264 video and AC3 or PCM audio in an mkv, then TSmuxer to make it a BD, if need be.

Thanks man!

I used to keep the CPU at 4.5Ghz back then. But it was getting too hot so i pushed it down to 4.2Ghz. It's still awesome though.

And an 8.5/10 for the laptop. Those are some great specs for a laptop.

Yep I need a sound card... but even with this HDD I have over 170GB free space! I'm gonna upgrade to a ~200GB SSD. The monitor is great, high end 23" 1080p. I just got the CPU since it's plenty for me since I'm mostly a gamer. As for the cooling, I had 12 120mm case fans but the temperature drop was just minimal. So now I have 7 - 3 in the front and 3 directly on the back of the drive bays, making a wind tunnel and I have an additional one exhausting air. I took out the extra fans since I'll be replacing this case soon anyway.

10/10 for above, it's almost perfect.
