Anyone see any probs with this Aussie build..

I am building a new pc for a mate of mine. he only surfs the net and wants to put some tunes on it and hook up his ipod. He wanted to spend $800 so I found him this...

Please remember I am in Aussie as well..

Asus P5GZ-MX..... $69
2G Kit-667 (2x1G) OCZ system Elite ....... $89 ( pretty frickin cheap )
E4300.......................... $145
Seagate 160gb Sata....... $65
Case with PSU............... $100
Logitech laser Cordless KB/Mouse......... $60
19" Asus/LG/Acer/Benq LCD.. $199

That all comes to around $730 plus I have allowed around $70 bucks for frieght...

Sound good?? Which monitor would be the better brand to you think?? All the LCD monitors are off ebay.

It should be a pretty good machine for what he does. I told him I can put a 8500gt in it for another $100 so he can play some games if he ever wanted to, but I don't think he will.

Looks good to me..although you may want to get another PSU, from Antec maybe. The ones that come in cases usually aren't very good.

For a rig like that, a standard PSU is fine. It hasnt even got a graphics card .

Just a couple of changes if you want:

CPU: E2140/E2160 - $106/$120 (Only 1MB cache, but he wont need anymore for what he is doing)

RAM: (How cheap is this ) 2GB Rambo PC6400, $89.95 (http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_8...00_PC26400_RAM)

Case: http://www.itestate.com.au/products_...ode=PD00004566. ($55 with PSU)

Other than that, its all looking good .

Btw, are those monitors a buy it now ?

hey Pinchy

Yeah those monitors are all buy it now.. from ozmall, its like 50 bucks freight but still cheap none the less.

I have never used rambo ram, whats it like, does it have a lifetime warrantee??? I am a huge ocz fan and have never had any probs at all with anything from them. but that rambo is 800mhz ram so I don't know.

I have heard much about the e2100's either, are they simply e4300's with less cache, I just put a 4300 in another pc last week with a gigabyte mb and it kicks ass.

As for the 8500gt being crap tk, I just put one in another rig I built for a guy ( the one with the 4300 in it and its not bad, plays bf2 @ 1280 x 1024 no probs..... And its a $100!!! there is no other card on the market that can do that for that price....

FSB to 266, RAM to 667 Ratio.

What do the E2100 cpus oc like.... jst out of curiosity...

Hey tk I checked out that umart too, not bad prices... isn't it your uncle or something?

Never used Rambo stuff myself. Ive used stacks of different brands of RAM before and there isnt much of a diff between brands. To me, as long as the warranty is good, the RAM is fine .

The e2*** are pretty good clockers from what I hear. Just like all conroes. And yep, its an e4300 with 1mb cache. (afaik)

The good thing about the Rambo RAM is that you can probably set it to 667Mhz or 533Mhz, then OC the CPU until the RAM hits 800Mhz. Therefore the RAM will stay stock and you will have a nice OC'd CPU .

But if he isnt going to do much resource heavy work, 667Mhz of "known" (OCZ) RAM might be your better bet. Its your call in the end, just throwing some options at you .
