Cpu questions
IS an Opteron better than a comparative processor running at the same speeds, busses, etc. ?

What other processors are you looking at? Opterons are generally server processors, but 'better' is subjective. It depends on your application.

Opterons are identical to Athlons mostly. The 2xx series can run in pairs though and the 8xx series with 7 brothers.

I do alot of gaming and as a hobby I do 3d artwork using Maya. As far as comparing, soemthing like :

Yes, in that case, I would go with the opty as well.

How about Desktop VS Mobile, I have an Athlon64 3000+ with 512 L2 and a venice core running at 2ghz, and will oc to 2.3 no problems or extra heat. The cpu I was looking at was a
