I get some desktop corruption with 7.5 sometimes (move a windows over them and it gets fixed, but annoying still). Will try these if it's better. Any previous 7.x didn't have it.

Hmm I tried them and found the colours on the display felt very cold and not all there, had a brief moment where I lost my screen.

But my friend with a similar pc to mine but with a X1800XT 512MB he totally lost the image on screen.

May try them out if these problems are know to be fixed.

7.5 and 7.6 vista gave awful color, very dull, but then you have to set CCC color settings to MCE black and white levels and the color is back to normal.

Not necessarily. Often, yes. Always, no. Decent tweaks will be able to improve performance without the loss of image quality, or perhaps increase image quality without losing performance. I don't know what the Omega drivers are like, but when I used them in the past they were no better than ATI's offering. People seem to think that one person working alone can do a better job than a big team of ATI programmers.

Omega drivers are made by a nice guy....Used to talk to him alot, he then stopped...Quite relegious too
As for the drivers themselves he USED to make Nvidia ones...Dont really know why he stopped...The ATI ones have the same quality as the reference ones but they are a bit faster due to some optimisations that exist in the drivers but ATI ( NVIDIA ) never use them due to some incompatibilities in certain games / systems.

Well not happened so far with 7.6:es and now you mentioned could have been firefox that left some parts of it to desktop.

As you are probably aware, there are a whole host of modders out there that mod drivers, some mod as you say for performance, some for specifically IQ at some cost to performance and some for an improved balance of the two, many dont acheive a great deal, one or two actually do.

I have used many with both ATi and Nvidia cards, warcat.....omega......Z etc I dont use them at the moment purely because the modded drivers tend to be a release or two behind ATi's or NVidia's offerings and generally there are improvements to be had with their generic offerings in such early days of DX10 and Vista so IIMO it's counter productive in any early cards development to use modded drivers, once things have settled down and most of the optimisations have already been had from the generic ones, for me thats the time to try the modded.

It's also nice to see that you insult anyone in here......I am sure you must have a lot of friends in the world, I think that perhaps before you start guessing computer issues and jumping to conclusions on subjects you clearly know little about....... you learn a few "people skills".
