Good monitor and other heat-related questions

j0 all.

So, I've upgraded my system to what you can see to your left. It OC's like a potato on crack and everything's nice, with one exception: I don't trust my software temp monitors.

Speedfan is totally warped for some reason, and TAT says both cores idles at 45 degrees C and top out at 67 degrees. BIOS says something like 35, and my external monitor (which isn't placed quite correctly) says the same. I do believe TAT is full of bs.

So, anyone knows a good program for telling temps?

Bios temps are under absolutely no load, and bios readings aren't guaranteed either. CoreTemp will tell you the value of the built in diodes.

You can use Core Temp .95 and feel fairly secure. After using hex results to subtract and find the DTS, you'll see Core Temp is usually right on the money.

Speed fan should report your CPU overall temp fairly well.

SPP and MCP are an entirely different matter, and most of the newboards aren't properly supported by the software out there.

For those, an external thermal sensor would do best.

TaT has been known to be inaccurate. ;/
