No OC for me? *BSOD*
I overclock my CPU to 3.01 from 2.8, which isnt that big of a clock, but then I decided I wanted to get at least 10,000 in 3dMark06, so I restarted and OCed it to 3.2, but it said entering BIOS safe mode, decreasing FSB, and when it went to boot Windows and BSODed. I was like wtf, and restored it to 3.01 and it still BSODed. I had also increased my PCIe frequency to 110mhz from 100mhz. So now I dont think it will let me OC at all, WTF happened?

well you OC'd and that can really screw up your computer. instead of OC'ing why not spend the xtra $$$ and get the faster CPU?

Try resetting the BIOS.

And I hate non-econimcal, non-logical people who refuse to accept the fact that paying $50 more for something that you could do in a few seconds, like raise your FSB to match those speeds and get the same performance with no or very little compentsation for longevety, is not freaking worth it.

Maybe your memory is holding you back. Lower your memory divider and try again.
also what is you hypertransport speed set at? You might need to lower it. |

I don't exactly know how, I've never OC'd past what raising my FSB... I feel like such a little n00b right now..." /end Yep, and trying to talk like a pro.... If it's of any merit, increasing PCI E is not recommended at this time. You mentioned your BSOD(or one of them) mentioned drivers. Was it the IQ(L)_ Driver Error. The error message was listed at the top of the screen? Usually this points to a conflict or corrupt set of drivers, but when you OC, this can happen frequentley. And, if you OC and it corrupt something, then this will continue to happen. Why hasn't anyone pointed him in the direction of the OC guides? Noone even asked if he had read them yet. Apparently he's not fully versed on what he is doing (hell I'm not even fully versed on what I'm doing, but my results are solid) and he's just simply run into a typical negative result of overclocking. You need to check the guides for 'what if' scenarios and exhaust those options before you send us on an easter egg hunt. 1. Set everything back to stock. 2. Disable any thermal or clock cycle limiters. These are things that auto adjust how your CPU performs based on the tasks you are doing. I don't know what the names are on AMD boards... research. 3. You cannot just raise the FSB and hope all will be well. After a certain point voltage changes will come into play. If you set the FSB higher you may need to increase FSB voltage and possibly Vcore voltage, as it controls the system. And do provide us any visual information you can. I would reset your bios, look to see if there is a bios update for your board, then try again, don't forget to lower your memory ratio and finally if its needed put the cpu voltage up a slight notch (only if its needed).
Check your temps first in the bios to make sure your CPU isn't getting to hot which could cause your system to shut down, I had that issue with my old Pentium D 820.

Yes do as vhtes and csallis suggested, then run your system for a while doing different types of tasks. Note when (post, bios, boot, in windows, in game etc) the crash happens and write down any error messages.

Have you set everything back to default values in the bios? does the shut down still occur?

What have you changed in your BIOS? Overclocking is a lot more than just raising your FSB

Heck, all I did was increase the FSB from 200 to 225, and my PCIe from 100 to 110. I went to boot, it said BIOS entering safe mode, press F1 to continue, so I did, and when I checked out my System from control panel it said 2.8, not the 3,15 it should have. So I restarted, lowered my FSB to 215, PCIe to 100, and booted. Just as it finished loading windows, it BSODed saying something about drivers, and I shut down, reset my BIOS, and then booted up. I was going through CPU-z when it randomly shut down. I turned it back on and here I am.

Thats all you had to say was all you increased was the FSB. You have to learn to OC correctly first. Reset your CMOS and I'll walk your through it.
