System Specs

XFX 8800 compared to XFX 8800 XXX same system

Hi i got a XFX 8800 Ultra and had it for a few day than took it back to get the XXX verson i run 3D Mark 06 on them with the same system here are the results
(Tested on) my system
Asus Striker Extreme
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850
OCZ PC 8500 1066Mhz Reaper 1GBx2
Seagate 320GB Sata 2
XFX 8800 Ultra and XFX 8800 Ultra XXX

yer all on stock speeds and cost a bit less then 5% cost $220 more for the Ultra XXX 5% is about $260 aus

well the Ultra cost $1070 aus and the Ultra XXX $1300 and tried ocing the ultra would'nt go over 650Mhz core with out errors

the OC on the XXX is about the same as the Ultra can't realy get much more out of it i managed core 685Mhz to 695Mhz men 1150Mhz to 1165Mhz maybe to reach higher clocks with watercooling

You should get some good cooling for it. Wait for the Zalman VF1000 to appear and slap that on wlong with some MX-1... flash bios with more volts... I wanna see 800MHz core and 2.5GHz mem from you...

TBH m8, all of these XXX / OC / SuperCharged etc etc editions are a waste of money!

They charge an extra £30 on top of the standard price, and all they do is increase the clocks, which is something you can do manually for FREE

Agree totally...but sometimes, on that rare occasion, they increase the voltage also to acheive higher clocks, if you can get one of them without paying too much of a premium it's worth it IMO.

Noone was picking on anyone, just noting that he spent 300 more dollars an a card that was only preoverclocked from the factory. IMO that is a waste of money.. but he got the card for free, so it's all good.

Maybe what I said isnt true for all cards then just most of them. For example, my 7950GT OC is sold for £30 more than the standard 7950GT, yet it is only overclocked by 3%, what a waste of money!
