Possible new system. Need suggestions.

Lets just say, in a in a hypothetical situation, that I was going to get a fairly decent sum of money, what would you recommend?

Lets just say I have $400 to work with in addition to whatever I can get for my: 8600GTS, Tforce 550SE, X2 3600 + Brisbane (which goes to 3.2GHZ@ 1.575V), and my lapped AC Freezer Pro 64.

I am saying $250 for my old parts, give or take a few bucks, so I am working with $650. What would you say? It needs to be the CPU, Mobo, Video Card, and Cooler.

EDIT: I have no brand loyality, whatever has the best performance.

I would keep the vcard man and just buy a cpu, mb, ram combo...

Maybe a E6600, p35 mb and 2gb good ram... that should come to around $550 give or take...

That would be the best way to go, if you sell the vcard then buy another one you will be looking at around 300 - 400 for something better than what you have which will suck up your whole budget...

Mkay, I wouldn't need the tower, but I do need cooling. Seems good though.

have you thought about sli gts'???? They perform pretty well... maybe a 680i sli mb with a e6600, 8800gts and another 1gb patriot ram..

That would be a pretty quick rig

Right......$650 maximum budget and you want the most outta a new system, I could do this cheaper but getting the fastest/most overclockable all round system for your money I would be suggesting this:

Mobo - EVGA 680i SLi - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813188019

$155.99 $145.99 with rebate

CPU - E6600, mine does 3.85Gig stable on air
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115003

$221

Cooler - Thermalright HR01 (just a personal preference but add a 120mm fan, its great!)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115028

$49.99

Graphics Card - Buy another 8600GTS to run in SLi, they will match a 8800GTS 320mb (more or less)in performance and coupled with the 680i board above IMO is the most cost effective solution:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115028

$139.99 after rebate

Now I make that a total of $556.97, that should compensate as it's nearly $100 less for not selling your exisiting 8600GTS, if thats not enuff, I would delete the EVGA 680i and insert instead one of the 650i chipset boards ( I have one and can highly recommend it), that would reduce the mobo price by around $35 making approx $525.
