Northbridge temps?
What should my northbridge temps be? I'm hitting around 60-70c and I think it's causes my PC to lock up here and there and reboot.
I have a cpu/vga water block that I could rig up with zip-ties

my old PC is cooled passively by a small yellow (looks more like a gold but not copper) heatsink
I don't know that exact temp it is at, but it is extremely hot to the touch, can't even touch it for long, but it worked like that and still works just fine.... if you oc'ed your cpu, then try to restore all setting, may be something happened to it I had Athlon 1200 that locked up every time it reached 60C, turned out that stock had dual fan on it and 1 of the fans refused to turn.... |

Multz,
There is no standard, but word of mouth and pictures of exploded SPP suggest that anything over 50-55 is undesirable; and that is a temperature achieved usually by aftermarket air solutions. Liquid cooling would bring it down into the low 40, possibly high 20s range. If you can get anything on there, and run an external thermal sensor to the heat sink/block and achieve a reading of 45 or lower, (adding 10 degrees to compensate for sensor not direct to core) than it's one variable to remove from the equation of 'why did my computer just shut down!!!???' |

Just get a better NB cooler man. You can get one for like $10 of Newegg, but I'm not sure if they ship to the Moon Base. (I hope somebody puts that in thier sig lol)
