Doom 3, Just finished the game!

You have to read a lot in Doom 3, and a lot people hated that. I myself loved that and liked the fact that you needed to spy a little to understand the whole game.

I like the audio files and the text. Made the game feel more like a good horror story. I think id did a great job with it! Now it's time for me to get the expansion.

I too thuroughly enjoyed Doom 3 as well as the expansion. Many people had gripes with the game for being a bit too dark but that was one of the aspects I thought added to the overall feel of the game. All in all, Doom 3 was one of the most enjoyable single player experiences that I've had to date.

It was ok, the BEST part of it was Hell. It got a bit redudant after a while. Lights go out, imps ambush you, imps die, zombies ambush you from a hidden door, rinse and repeat through the rest of the game.

The only issue with Doom3 was the negative publicity it got on release due to it's really high system requirements so few people actually picked the game up. Three or four years later, to most people the thought of playing Doom3 maxed out is still beyond them because "i read it has well high system requirements"

Although speaking of great FPS games, Prey on the PC, quite a good game yet it's STILL in the bargain bins in the UK for £4.99, the official non-remake version!!!!

And congrats, I still hav'nt beatr it on easy mode without a few "god"s and "noclip"s, "notarget"s and "map game/delta5"s

And those who don't like it because it's dark: Either set your gamma higher, or:

1. Edit the properties of your Doom 3 shortcut so it reads "C:\GamePathHere\Doom3.exe" seta com_allowConsole 1.
2. In game, bring down consol when you come to a dark area (If you used the alteration above, it's just, on UK keyboards, the key next to 1, or on US keyboards, tilde)
3. Type "testlight" without the quotes. Voila, you have a cone of light in the direction you were facing. This does'nt travel with you, and slows perfromance down the more you have.

Or, the best 2 methods:
1. Get the "Duct-tape" mod
2. Use your goddamn flashlight. That's what it's there for.

I'm freaking loving Doom 3 - I've only just started it, but it's great! Very atmospheric. I keep playing it at night with the lights off & using headphones. Tempted to get a surround sound kit (or surround sound headset) & try that out.

I'm also going to install the Brilliant Highlights mod for the Doom 3 engine - it's meant to add something that the already ace dynamic lighting lacks. It'll probably fuck up my game no doubt.

I had that when it first came out and beat it, too. I agree with JC316 - Hell was the best part. I just loved the interpretation of what hell would be like. Hated the damn imps with a passion, though...

Maybe we could all meet on a server somewhere (where we all have relatively decent pings - say 50 - 100 no higher) and frag it out. That'd be cool.

If no one joins after 5 mins, then gimme a min, I'll need to redo router port settings.

I liked the game, but seriously, I can't believe they made you roam around in darkness most of the time and didn't let you use your flashlight and a gun at the same time. You are telling me that this guy is supposed to be a maintance person and he doesn't have duct-tape? WTF!

Lol... I just quit the server for a minute, I'm going to have a go at 1.3.1 see if that'll install. If it does, you'll need to update your patches!

And I believe the engine is capped at 70FPS
