A testament as to just how cool the 8600GTS runs.

Sucker went fanless with the stock cooler and idled at 60*C. I had just done some cable management and my IDE cable stopped the fan from turning, I almost had a shit fit until I saw that the temps were only 60*C. Great cooler on the MSI OC edition

...and it's a testament as to 1 of the reasons why wire management is important.

How long did the video card run fanless?

Haha yeah, i've done that too with a SATA cable to my GeForce 7900GTO...

After playing Quake4 for 30mins it finally hit the 110c threshold and gave me a warning saying it was overheating, i nearly bricked it

Wrenched open the case prodded the heat pipes, nearly burnt my finger lol

Still works fine to this day, 8 months later

About 10 minutes at the most, probably less. I sure am glad that I noticed that before playing a game lol.

I have the exact same card! The highest I've seen mine get is 67C and my case has horrible airflow.
