Building First PC, how are these componants?

Hello Power Up.

I'm Atnevon, and new to your forums. I was told that this is a great place to find out the best information on computer building, gaming, overclocking, and much more. I am building a desktop to replace my laptop that was fried by lightning a week ago. I have been asking around, and now have a general idea of my componants. Tell me what you think:

the componants

I thank you all very much for your help, and glad to have another good source of information on computers.

-Andrew

P.S. - I know alot of forums are different, and I'm not sure how to hide spilers in this forums. If anyone could show me, I would be thankful.

Maybe it's just me, but those links don't work.

Anyhow, if you care about wire clutter or not, that PSU is not modular. If your confident you can hide wires, I would recommend getting it.

As far as your graphics card goes, you picked a good brand (EVGA). 320mb is good, I'm sure the core clock is fine w/o looking at it. What types of games do you play (if any)?

667 ram is kinda slow, but other than that. All seem to be good products! Hope you enjoy the forums

Have fun with your first build.

In that case, I would want to advise you to search for a new PSU.

if you are going to run a 8800gtx man I would suggest a psu something like this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817256021

Its modular and a well known brand.

As for you ram. It is a little slow, as ravenas said. Look for either some good DDR 800 or higher. That mb supports up to 1200mhz according to the egg. So something like this ram would be a good choice:

As with your dvd drive, get a SATA one instead of IDE as you wont need to have any big/ugly ide cables inside you case then. Apart from floppy if you want one. Ide cables are horrible they collect dust, inhibit airflow, and look shit.

And double check on that case you want too, the 8800gtx is a massive card and by looking at those pics on the egg it MAY get obstructed by the hard drive cage.....

Apart from that it looks pretty good.

Good luck with the build you will love it...

lite-cd and evga boards have some funky compatibility issues in the past, i dunno if they fixed it yet.

My cousin has both, he hasn't complained about compatibility issues. Maybe lites are getting better.

Wow. Thank you everyone for your responses. This would be my first build, so I'm really excited. I'm going to do a few revisions and see what adds up then.

I was wondering too. I heard RAM is better the lower voltage you have. The best being 2V ir lower, what is ya'lls take on this?

Thanks agian,
Andrew
