System Specs

can't boot with sata 1 dvd burner

hey i just picked up a samsung 20X sata 1 dvd burner from newegg http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16827151153

model SH-203B and i cant find it in my bios to boot to. any ideas? i have tried the auto amd manual firmware update and neither of them work, says wrong drive specified for firmware or something like that. any help would be great!!

on my board,i have red sata(boot) and black(data) sockets.dunno about your board.

i have the red ones too. i just thought that they were for the promise raid or for some kind of raid cause there is a red ide next to them also. i will try it.

still no luck with it using sata but i used my usb to ide, eide, sata thing and it works great. called asus about it and i basically got the run around and didnt learn anything new. not sure what was going on today usually thier customer service is great, today it sucked ass. OOH and i finally got vista to work on it too. WOO HOO so i installed vista with my sata dvd rw using a usb cable!? huh who knew...

System Specs

After carefully reviewing your mobo manual, It apears that your mobo only supports SATA HDD for primary storage or SATA RAID configurations. Your Mobo does not support SATA CD or DVD's. (see 2-22 thru pages 2-25, #'s 3,4,5 and notes at bottom of page 2-25)
