Wireless Network Query

Can you create a wireless home network between two computers, one which runs Windows 2000 and the other XP, and allow them to "talk" to each other and share files between each other and a NAS?

Yes. You should be able to set everything up to work in an ad-hoc network, but the NAS might not support this option(I know both Windows 2K and XP do though).

Or you can just go buy a cheap router.

is there a program with the wireless adapter ?taht might be easier..

I have got an ADSL router etc - sorry for missing that detail. I was just worrying about compatibility issues with file/printer and general connection sharing.

It's a Belkin model and does come with good software apparently.

Ad-hoc can only be used by 2 computers. 3+ would become infrastructure. However you could connect the NAS to one of the PC's and have it act as a bridge or router.

Thanks Dan that info was really useful. Could I connect it to the Win2000 machine with no problems, or would it be better to connect to the XP Home one?

EDIT: with "it" being the NAS + router, sorry.
