Fujitsu Introduces the First Mouse With a Palm Scanner

Most security scanners rely on reading fingerprints for biometric security. However, Fujitsu's new PalmSecure mouse has gone in a different direction and instead reads the vein patterns on the palms of users hands. Users can now casually place their hand on the mouse and unlock their workstation.

No official price or release date has been set for the PalmSecure mouse, however, it should be available soon and will come in gray, black, and white.

Indeed this should work much better than the mice with built in fingerprint scanners on them

Also can't help but wonder will this mouse be wireless?

I like the idea, would work great for the rooms people are constantly in and out of. One minute lock out and just grab the mouse to unlock.

I cut part of my finger off once while at work with Publix (I work in the Deli so im constantly cutting meat for folks on the meat slicer) I wonder if that would have any effect on me.

Granted my finger has completely fgrown back and such but still it does make one wonder what would have happened if the said persons pointer finger had a bandage on it

In this situation I think this mouse would be more favorable than the fingerprint mouse. It's reading vein patterns on your palm, so therefore it doesn't need your point finger (while the finger print scanner would).

Wouldn't making it wireless make it vulnerable to sniffing?

No fingerprints or surface features. It scans the vein patterns of your palm, which are below your skin.
