Comparing these two MoBo's
Was going to get a new MoBo earlier in the week, but things came up and now I'm looking to order one tomorrow. Was between a $90 Abit and a $60 ECS, and everyone said go for the Abit.
I did a bit more research and found an Intel that was almost identical but $5 less. Intel: http://www.intel.com/products/mother...5Gtp/index.htm Abit: http://www.uabit.com/index.php?optio...ge=1&model=330 I don't need it for ultra-hardcore graphics or super fast gaming, just need it for basic stuff while still maintaining speed and future upgradability (sweet--I made a new word!). MoBo I have now isn't too great and is going to be returned. Just need to install the new one first. I don't need the absolute best, just something much better than what I have now. I plan on keeping my CPU for quite a while (I have had zero problems so far with the D-series). Honestly, my only requirements are DDR2, SATA2 capable, and a full-speed PCI-E x16 slot. I'm not concerned with SLI or 1333 FSB or any of that. Whatever I get, it will be installed with: Pentium D 940, 1 Gig DDR2, e-GeForce 7100GS, and 2 SATA 2's. Suggestions on which of those is better? Thanks a bunch! Looking to order by 3 PM today so it's shipped tonight. No biggie if I have to wait until Monday to order, but I'd like to at least know it's taken care of.

The Intel link is broken and the Abit one points to the homepage. What boards are you looking at?

I've gotten some feedback through another Forum also and I'm 90% certain which one I'm going for, but I'd still love input. --Jay

And I just noticed something. On TigerDirect, it lists the MoBo as Intel D945GTPL, but on Intel's website, they only have a D945GTP.
What's the difference? Oh, and is there a way to find out if they support Standby and Hibernation? One of my dislikes with my current board is the lack of support for either.

MicroUnC, I love Abit and am leaning towards going with them again. I just found an IB9 for only $10 more. Seems very close to the IL9 Pro. Your thoughts on the two and reasoning?

Nice board, but i didn't like the layout. Because it's SATA ports near south bridge too far from the edge. Some people say it has tarrible installation, some think completely diffrent. Everything else is good, got lots of features, Extremely stable, Easy user manual, overclockable, 8GB mem support.
I think u should go with IB9 not with IL9

I read all the reviews from NewEgg.com and found a lot of installation horror stories. Most seemed though that they were from folks who had little or no experience installing MoBo's. I'm still comparing the two at a few more sights and should make a decision later.

Well, I ended up going with the IL9 Pro. I'm not even the least bit concerned with OCing, nor do I absolutely need to have the finest gaming system or whatnot, and this one just seemed to be the most sensible for me. It will allow for future upgrades over the next several years, so I'm happy.
Thanks to all who lent advice!
