'super high' please.

20" resolution on a 19" monitor, so i guess you can call it 'high' but still.

I've wondered when this would start to happen.
It's not much, but it's a start. Soon the 20" resolution will become 1920x1200 and the 27 will become 2560x1600.

I've always stood by 4:3 as the ideal aspect ratio for a gaming display. Most games that don't detect a wide-screen encounter "stretching" and that really spoils the show. Can't imagine an obese Max Payne........."dearest of all my friends"

Disable scaling and your games will show as 4:3, sure you'll have borders but you ignore those automatically.

...for which I could stick back to a ViewSonic or NEC 4:3 / 4ms panel of any standard size. That's the best way I can keep Maxy slim and fit.

I can't understand why more people don't just cheat and do the short-cut edit to force the rez. you want. I do this on my 20' widescreen and the only visual distortion is in the menu screen(short fat)but when the actual game starts,..no problems at all. I "cheat" in every game I play that will not support widescreen,... with great results.

nice to see higher resolutions popping up on 19" LCDs. Hell my widescreen is 1440 x 900 and I like it, but Id like to see it true 1080P

What you failed to mention, is some of those hacks don't fix your FOV in game. You are still loosing abit of something. It is manageable tho, and not a big deal when u get use to it.

Heck, we've already had 3840x2400 22's.

As for widescreen monitor when gaming - it's worth it for the games that do support widescreen resolutions IMHO. And when they don't, like Makaveli said, it's not a big deal.

because it works in maybe 5 games, it often stretches the image and you get vert- instead of hor+

Go check the widescreen gaming forums, and you'll see those are pretty dodgy fixes instead of a true solution.

P.S - i'm a widescreen fan. i just dont think your post has anything valid to it, in relation to this thread topic.
