not a slam Pancho...just an observation.
i think he was going to kick some mods, but stopped and decided to give my idea a try, he even asked me for a list of the mods i saw as inactive. in the end he asked me to post this and see what happens. everything would be clearer if i could give you an excerpt of the conversation but it would violate his privacy and stuff so yeah.

You know what... I don't know why Pancho got the job. He must be really competent, and W1z sees something in him.

I want to see what W1z says about this whole thread, I am predicting it went on a skewed path.

it did, i think he choose me cause i went to him with a list of questions and some thoughts on tpu and all like about the skins and animated avatrars and stuff. i supposs he just picked me cause it would easier to have me to do it then to have him come over here and do it etc .

Maybe its because your young (and fairly new to TPU) that some of us old skool members (LOL) dont like the idea of 'change' that you purpose

It seems to me,any threads about mods seem to go off on a skewed path.

I think the answer to the first post was either agree or disagree, which turned into a pancho bash.No one seemed to understand(or believe) w1zz asked him to post it.

If their are mods who are mostly inactive, then are they really mods if they're not doing any modding? maybe the mods should have to be on the forum for at least a set number of hours a week/day/??.

I also think that mods have a personality and are a member of tpu too,but they have the rules to uphold,so if they issue a warning and it goes unheeded then they have to take harsher action on the offender,be it friend or whatever. That is why they are a mod and been the mod comes first over been a member of the forum.Been a mod is a job is it not? paid or unpaid.

people come on our forums for help or to solve problems,we should all be here to help if we can, even the mods. This is a great forum and i have been on quite a few. This is the one i come on the most, and have made quite a few friends on here since i've been on here.I am always willing to help anyone on here if i can.

thanks aphex, means a lot

yeah i guess, i just like to make the world better if i can somehow, and tpu was one of those things, where i see things that could be improved easily and simply , and thought, lets see what happens when i talk to someone higher up about my ideas.

well about the inactive mods, this is where im coming from, we have quite a few of them and they are blocking the slots for newer mods to be. they were qualified to be a mod before and they earned it, so thats why i decided to make them retired mods rather then deprive em of their power. and you're absolutely right in the last paragraph, to be a mod takes an enormous amount of responsibilty

LOL, look at what I found, Totaly on topic with all this trust me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forum_moderator

Choosing a moderator
Different boards choose moderators in different ways. As noted, on some boards moderators are just friends of the owner. On more serious boards, administrators and senior staff generally choose moderators from among long-time, respected, level-headed members.

There are generally sufficient volunteers for moderator positions that it's unnecessary for even large, professional boards to pay them. Boards with paid subscriptions may waive them for staff.

In Slash-based sites like Slashdot, moderators are semi-randomly selected by the software among registered users within a certain posting frequency range (not obsessed posters nor non-contributors). Their task is limited to five evaluations ("points") that they can distribute among any recent comment.

I fully understand a mod has friends too,on forums. And i realize how hard it must be to ban a friend, but i would do it if the need arose. It is quite a big responsibility really, maybe some people dont really understand how much.

Well there is quite a lot of feedback on here for w1zz to read dunno what he will make of it tho' its been quite a discussion upto now.I'm sure if w1zzard decides he needs to restructure the mod system or appoint new ones he will.He does a grand job of being the heart of tpu.

Power users dont accept you because you have your own club. People like having their own space, its as simple as that. They liked having their little private club, and they never bothered nobody so nobody bothers them. Its just an unspoken sort of agreement that people have in clubs. They have their own friends and you have yours.

It has nothing to do with the screen and everything to do with your character. Dont take it personally, its just a friend thing. Once you have a good thing going you avoid change in fear that it will ruin what you have. Anyway, back on topic...
