ATi and NVIDIA comparison history charts

Hey. I got to thinking. The 8800 series NVIDIA are in comparrison and compete with the HD2000 series of ATi. K , no biggie here.

I went to google, and yet to turn up this:

What NVIDIA _____ is equal to ATi _____? Do you all know of a good place where this is displayed at? I may be turning up strange searching, but maybe one of you all has the magic answer.

Thanks alot,
-Andrew

this list is kept pretty up-to-date.
for raw number comparisons, this site is pretty good.

Yep, and also the Buyer's guide has a nice little list inside that's pretty consistent (cards swap around a bit depending on app/settings);

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/10/...ney/page6.html

I wouldn't trust GPUreview's numbers it's a popularity poll, and the raw number like bandwidth and fill rate don't tell the whole story, or else the FX would've been a great card well into the DX9 era and the HD2900s would be moping the floor with the GF8800s, neither of which is the case.

not true, the 8800 has much higher fill rates than the 2900's.

Which fill rate and what kind?
pixel, geometry, texture? Int, Float, single , Multi?

The R600 puts up great numbers for shader power, memory bandwidth/size, even single texture fill-rate, but it's in choices of how they implemented the back end that hobble the R600, something that doesn't come accross in just quoting specs which was my point.

the 8800GTX has higher pixel and texture fill rates than the 2900xt, geometry wise i have no clue.

Single texture fill rate favours the HD2900, multi-texture fillrate favours the G80; pixel instructions per second favours the HD2900 I think you're confusing ROP pixel fillrate which favours the G80 with what I said, shader power. Kinda proves my point about simply quoting specs.

keep in mind the drivers for the 2900s are still maturing, too - the way the cards handle their processing is slowly getting better.

Originally, out-that-box, though, IMO they were rushed out the door

Thats a good find. It might not be 100% accurate, but at least it gives you a picture about how everything stacks up.
