HIS X800XL 256MB fan voltage?
Anyone know what voltage cooling fan is using on this card? Or what is the “usual” voltage for video card fans?

That card uses a 12V fan, as do most other cards. Don't use a fan that draws significantly more current than the stock fan, you can burn out the fan control circuit.

Actually I had a problem with this card, fan wasn’t working. So I was thinking to connect video card fan to motherboard 12V fan chassis to see if the problem is with the fan itself or fan controller on the card. It doesn’t matter now because I’m exchanging the card, but I was wondering if that would be possible to accomplish.

Sickbrain, did you ever fix your problem? Who did you exchange the card with? I just purchased a HIS X800XL Turbo PCI-E card and my fan doesn't work either. I have emailed HIS tech support twice and no response yet... I really want to play games, but with no VGA Fan it will probably screw up the card and overheat.

I was buying it from Newegg.com. I returned my card for exchange but they ran out of them so I had to get a different card. Looks like it’s a common problem. Exchange it if you can.
I was playing BF2 and HL2 with it and games didn’t crash. Just try to replace it. Good luck. |
