xfire issues?

Several post s indicated issues?
I am considering several alternatives to my current sytem nd do not want ot creat greif if xfire is "unreliable"

um... you did not have to get all pissy, etcetra. No need to make a second thread for the same topic. What I said before, one 8800GT > two X1950PROs.... get it now?

Stick to the ATI compatability chart and you should be OK. Some motherboards are better than others, meaning some have more issues than others. A lot of problems are driver related, as ATI driver instalation is pickey.

When downloading ATI Drivers, click the available link for instructions, and read/follow them.(If more people did this, they would not have half the problems they do).

right, so it looks like a HIS 1950 pro vivo would work with a 1950 pro vivo, makes sence.. Listed is a p35e.. is that a generic p35 chip.. sorry I am clueless, I have a P5k-e using a p35 chip.. so, since it matches the lineup it should work. My one reservation is I am screwed on the return policy from NE if it does not work!

Next ?, same idea.. what type of % increase , in an average application, fear, fps, other at a 1600x1200 or lower resolution would xfire give?

These are two factory overclocked cards, I would not oc them more.. if less than 10% increase in fps, I know it will very, then why bother.. if 15-25% then it looks promising. Again, please understand this is gentle vergin territory for me! LOL

PLEASE post if you have real test experiences in your systems for xfire of ANY CARD!

Brand doesn't matter but memory size does. Do not match a 512 card with a 256 card.

well, I like the brand, and the best price on the best x1950 pro, so that is a no brainer for me.. HIS IceQ3 systems are nice if you do not mind the noise, loader than water, and size, two slots!

I woudlnt bother running crossfire or SLi with a 19 inch monitor. They are meant for high resolution when tyring to play games at high/max settings. The second card helps boost the FPS up so you can achieve that. If you try running a dual card setup on anything lower than a 1600x1200 resolution, you are just wasting money.

right, my specs are out of date, I am running 21 inch that will run very high resolutions.. 2600x? whatever size matches that.. and I was thinkingthe 1600x1200 at the high AA and AF setting.. so, you aer right.

Tests of two video cards X1950Pro merged into a CrossFire combination have shown that in most cases the efficency of X1950Pro CrossFire (the performance boost as compared to the single X1950Pro) amounted to at least 50%. Note that at games the combination X1950Pro CrossFire quite often demonstrated much higher efficiency than in synthetic benchmarks. That is a sign of certain maturity of the technology. But engineers at AMD/ATI think it is too early to calm down. There is still much to work at because the scatter of results across applications is still significant, and it is in the company's plans to merge the power of not only two but more video processors.

If we compare the results for X1950Pro CrossFire versus the performance level of video cards presented in the review, then in most tests the combination was superior over the single X1950XTX, and in half the cases the results were either close to or superior over 8800GTS. Needless to say, it is not quite correct to compare video cards of different generations point-blankly. However, there are no DirectX 10 games yet, and the new NVIDIA flagships are still too expensive. So if you happen to get the second X1950Pro as a present, don't refuse to take it - a pair of X1950Pro is quite powerful enough for a "fast drive".

But we promised that we would sort out with the phenomenal results of tests for X1950Pro CrossFire at Need for Speed Carbon which exceed the theoretical limit for merging performances of two video cards.
