4400+ IHS removal
I decided to finally remove the IHS on my Toledo 4400+ x2, i was suprised by the results.
Before :At 2856 mhz 1.63vcore the hottest core was at 62 celcius on full load After: At 2900mhz 1.65vcore the core is at 45°and cpu is at 39° on full load after 2h of prime95 I found out that a disposable razor blade work extremely well for this job and that sometimes removing the IHS can give nice results. I can now hit 3ghz! http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=269014 Here some pics. ![]() Last edited by The Haunted; Nov 16, 2007 at 08:51 PM. |

Cool. I tried to go water cooling on my S754 3400 without the IHS and burnt one corner edge. Smelt really bad. Poor thing. I bought it open lid + lid. Was working fine when I put the lid back. Should have left it like that. Was greedy to go more. Now unfortunately its in the grave sleeping for ever.

I'll have to try removing the IHS of my Brisbane after I have another motherboard/CPU lying around as a spare...

The IHS was easy to remove on the toledo, you just need to be careful and cut the silicon
slowly with a razor blade. I don't know if the brisbane core will be so easy to separate from the IHS. Can't wait to see the results. |

I did this on mine, it was easy. I used a x-acto knife on my brisbane 3600.

You're lucky it wasn't welded. Modern CPU's are, and welded is almost just as good as direct contact with the core..
