Issue with the "Thanks" button

Just thought I'd bring this up - maybe someone knows how to fix this issue . . .

I use MSN internet software, which runs IE7 from within itself . . . but, in the forums, if I hit the "Thanks" button, the button disappears but it does not post that I've thanked that user. Even if I reload the page, there's no change at all.

To use the thanks button, I have to load up IE7 independently and hit the Thanks button, which can be a bit of a hassle having to seperate browsers open, y'know?

Any ideas?

My guess is that MSN's browser is block whatever script the Thanks button runs on. But I am sure someone with more knowledge will have a better answer.

In the mean time, try disabling script blocking if MSN has it. Also, try adjusting MSN's security settings.

lol, true - but I find MSN a little too convienent . . . messenger, IE7, hotmail, Encarta, download manager, the MSN dashboard . . . all within one window, with the little pop-ups whenever new mail comes in, etc.

although, IE7 by itself is a ton faster to load up initially.

didn't make a difference at all - it seems, also, that MSN is using the same security settings that I have set in IE7. It really doesn't make sense to me, seeing as how MSN uses IE7 for browsing.

depends on your definition of a "real" browser

I've used FireFox on other people's rigs - but for me IE7 loads pages a ton faster, plus it doesn't seem to have as much of an issue with properly displaying a page. From what I've seen of FireFox, many pages I frequent just look odd . . .

I'm honestly not sure why everyone has such a problem with IE7, though - I've never had any security or usage issues by itself. MSN can be a little funky sometimes, though . . .

my issues were with IE6, i'll admit that. FF is just simpler and easier, except for the ram usage - on systems with fast/free ram, its a lot faster than IE7 is.

I guess it just depends on personal preference, really. I can't quite say FF is any more secure than IE7 nowadays, thanks to the growing number of users installing FF. As per a security stand point, they're about equal.
