ASUS R.O.G. Striker II Formula Motherboard Pictured

As the title suggests, the picture below shows ASUS R.O.G. Striker II Formula motherboard in detail. Looking almost identical to the original ASUS R.O.G. Striker Formula (nForce 680i), this mobo will be its successor utilizing the new NVIDIA nForce 780i chipset.

I wish they also make a ROG board with the AMD 790FX. Awesome board nonetheless.

Arrh fair play!

Am I right in guessing that the E2140 is a stop gap until the Q6600 drops in price or when Intel get their act together and release the Q9450 or whatever the 45nm equivalent is to be called?

^^ - MUHAHAHAHA!

Don't know how accurate their information is, considering the stupid amount of different rumours relating to Intel's 45nm delay(s) but it seems 4-layer PCBs using the P35 chipset have issues with the new chips...

'ere y'go...
I'm hoping the £120 P5K Premium has a 6 layer pCB then! Just googling it now.

EDIT: Looks like it either has an 8 or 10 layer PCB.

I don't think the Q6600 will ever have a price-cut after the release of YF. They'll stay on just like leftover Conroe 1066 processors. The retailers stocking them would sell it for the same or at the most, $10 lesser. Even they can't afford to sell it at a price close to that which they bought them from the wholesalers/Intel and cannibalise their profit margin. It's going to be a serious wait before its successor from the YF takes over....and that would be only after Intel realises its Q6600 stocks are selling out / finishing its target sale quantitatively.

I just bought a G0 Q6600 to hold me over until I can afford a QX of some flavor. Got it at CompUSA for $240 NIB, because they're going out of business. It was the best deal in the store.

L.B.

Your Q6600 should run just fine till Q2 2009. But that's an out-of-business sale. That rate doesn't apply everywhere
