If you have the cash to get the 80gb version then go for it..no point going for it tho if you dont wish to play PS2 games onit...thats my view tho..maybe you do want it for PS2 gaming and you want the extra 40gigs of Hard drive space!

But umm...buy the 80gb one if ya got the money!

It's the same for both.

The 40GB and 80GB PS3 is the same in almost every aspect except the 80GB has 4 USB ports (instead of 2 on the 40GB), PS2 Backwards Compatibility, and of course 80GB instead of 40GB. If you don't play PS2 games (or have a PS2 to play PS2 games), then I would just get the 40GB PS3 because 1) 2 extra USB ports and 40GB more HDD space is not worth $100 and 2) if you need more space, you could just upgrade the HDD with any 2.5" SATA Drive.

Yeah, of course. That's another reason why I think if you don't need PS2 Backwards Compatibility then just go for the 40GB PS3...USB hubs are so cheap nowadays.

Azn, how much has changed in the homebrew PS3 scene? I havent read up in a bit and didn't think things would change much.

Can you now run Windows XP on it?

I'm really not sure. I think you can run Windows XP on it through Linux, but I'm not sure if you can do it directly yet. I'm thinking about installing Linux on it (Yellow Dog), but should I upgrade my Hard Drive first?

Kind of, but you can't play games because there's no access to the GPU, but you can use it for basic computer tasks.

I say 80gb, but it would be better if you can find a 60gb.
