McDonald's Boss Claims Video Games Cause Child Obesity

Well if this isn’t the pot calling the kettle black then I don’t know what is. McDonald’s UK chief executive, Steve Easterbrook, has hit out at video games claiming that they are responsible for obesity among children. Easterbrook also commented that people need to be aware of the importance of a balanced diet, saying:
Quote:
The issue of obesity is complex and is absolutely one our society is facing, there’s no denial about that. But if you break it down I think there’s an education piece: how can we better communicate to individuals the importance of a balanced diet and taking care of themselves? Then there’s a lifestyle element: there’s fewer green spaces and kids are sat home playing computer games on the TV when in the past they’d have been burning off energy outside.

80% of the gamers I've seen and met are either skinny or properly built. Obese gamers are rare. Talk about fighting obesity selling fries and tankful cheese laden burgers.

+1

That's what Subway does. They sell both infernal and healthy food, nobody complains. McD is going overkill luring customers making comments on things that don't even pertain to them, video games and obesity.

They do. They offer many healthy alternatives.
Though for maccas to TOTALLY pass the buck is a rort.

The food purchased at fast food places is generally high in fat.
Its stupid to assume that just because a alternative is offered that it will be consumed. A change in lifestyle is part of the problem though.

One thing compliments the other really...
Food = Laziness, more food, more laziness...vicious cycle.

The McD is slightly "modded" to Indian ingredients (no beef). They cover it up with oily veggies and soy chunks....yuck. But the veg Big Mac (that's right)....is awesome though highly fatty bukkaked with cheese

Hmmm... if most gamers are like me, then food is not even on their mind when playing a game. When I get into my zone playing a game, I will forget all about food and skip an entire meal and I rarely snack... to hard to use a joystick or keyboard and eat Cheetos. I would say that video games help keep me from thinking about food.

As for getting more exercise... yeah, I do need to work on that.
