ATI Catalyst 8.4 http://www.sapphiretech.com/en/driverfiles/421.ZIP(KainXs)

new hot fix http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=56151(malware)

8.2 no better performance but random VPU recoveries.

8.3 won't load

8.4 lots of black spots popping up on the ground and still have some choppy game play. on a positive note I didn't get the bad lag ...go ATI. Still no artifacts found in ATI tray tools...ATI tool results in a BSOD Any attempt at an overclock results in a BSOD too. after removing every piece of ATIsoftware I went and installed the 8.4 hotfix drivers again and things are much better. no black spots, long lag periods or incorrect colors on webpages.

overclocking tools:
Atitool .26 (some instabillity-Morgth) Ati tray tools V1.4.7.1149(does not save dynamic fan control settings-Morgoth) rivatuner (apparently no dynamic fan control-Morgth)
Rivatuner 2.08 (only app. I've found so far to support low level driver OCing for this card-15thwarlock)
Atitool: 0.27 Beta 3(15thwarlock)
AtiTool0.27 beta (doesnt show/adj proper clocks causing VPUrecover-intel igent)
rivaTuner 2.08 (blaznjason)

volt mods:
software voltage control possible see this thread to confirm resistor posistion on your card http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=53220

pencil mod same as 3870 (r1222) please see this thread to confirm your cardhttp://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=48544

^^THANKS to RandomMurder + W1zzard

*NOTE* these cards can be run using the 6pin PCI-X power connector from your PSU

cooling solutions:
for either air/water you will need to use ANY of the newer style coolers with "series2" or Nvidia 6800/7800 4 hole mounting

I did some googling and hit up the more reputable US online stores....no one seems to have it here yet. Maybe get on live chat with the Egg or shoot NCIX an email and see if they even have plans to buy them yet!

They're not even available in the UK yet, however I did do search for some shops selling them and some importers said they'd be able to get a Sapphire 3850 in 2 to 3 weeks. I'd hold out, as they may release a 3870 once the 3850 have started selling.

Well, I'm going on my own gut feeling. SOD's law has it, that if I buy a 3850 they'll release an even better 3850 or they'll release a 3870. I haven't read anywhere that they will be, but I can't help but think that's what will happen.
