System Specs

External HDD troubles

I'm borrowing my dad's 500GB harddrive so i can back up my things and reformat, when i try to copy iso files that are 7 GB it says its to big.. There's plenty of room on it(260Gb i think)
Any help would be great, im probely just going to use winrar and half the ssize into two file, it would be nice if i didnt tho

plug the disk internally and copy all you want....

the problem you describe is odd....what connection do u use?

Try using Windows File Transfer Wizard, it's slow but works. get it started and select "this is old computer. After reformatting select this is new computer.

Format your dads drive. And just copy and paste. It works i'im doing it right now. lol

its fat32.. most external hardrives are formated this way for compatibility reasons.. fat32 has a 4 gig single file size limit.. its so they can be used on win 98 or mac systems..

Beat me too it. lol.



The only option is to split the files into 4GB or smaller chunks. Both 7zip and winrar can do that for you.
