Scythe Launches the Zipang CPU Cooling

Scythe announced today its first try with 140mm fan equipped CPU cooling. The Zipang CPU Cooler or SCZP-1000 uses 6 massive heat-pipes situated on rather unusual place for today's processor cooling solutions. Scythe technicians call it UPHC (Uneven Parallel Heatpipe Construction). This new technology is applied for the first time in this cooler, as well as the new Scythe 140mm fan producing 51.82CFM air flow at only 21.00dBA (fan speed: 1000rpm ±10%). The overall weight of the cooler is 815g and Scythe promises compatibility for all Intel Socket 478/T (LGA775) and AMD Socket 754/939/940/AM2 processors. the naysayers will swear that the design is just going to blow hot air back down on the cpu... which is just not as big of an issue as many people think.

) will probably be 1 beast of a cooler. But some mid-tower owners won't be happy when they find out it wont fit.

I had a Scythe Andy Samurai for a while (review here). That heatsink beat out the Typhoon, and it did not have dual-ended heatpipes like this one does. Between that and the 140mm fan, this unit ought to be quieter and perform better. I'll be looking out for the reviews on this one.

It more about the number of fins and less about the direction of the air blowing. The down blowing type didn't have the room for so many fins before , but at 68 fins thats bigger than a TRUE120 by a 15 fins Wow. It gonna cool like crazy.

the only thing i don't like is they could have tried to make it look a little more stylish. The botton looks great but how about the top a chrome fan a led etc...

This is EGGcellent. Together with a Corsair TX750 Watt PSU (which also has a 140mm fan) and you'll be set with a VERY quiet rig, something I think all of us will appreciate.

According to the review, it was more of an issue to remove it. Trying to get at those Intel push-pins in cramped places can be difficult.

Still, performance on par with the Infinity sounds pretty good. Wonder what would happen if they had a high speed 140mm fan to test on it?

Trying to get at those Intel push-pins in cramped places can be difficult. Still, performance on par with the Infinity sounds pretty good.
