Usb Tv tuner

My dad was wonder, and got me to do wonder myself... would it be good to get the usb tv tuners, or a pci tv tuner? I'm open to everyones thoughts on this matter, as I am thinking of getting a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 1062 and my father has a old AMD compaq... I'm all ready on it for upgrading... lol

Yes I agree, but the USB can be slipped in your pocket and used on other computers easily.

Yeah you just plug it in, install the drivers/software, plug in an antenna and off you go.

The USB tuners never had the quality of the PCI ones, but that may have changed now, with newer technology.

:well cold storm, that sounds like a question that would fit perfectly in our a/v section i would go with the pci if your dad doesnt really want to deal with a usbstick.

on a side note, i was wondering if any of you with hdtvs that have a usb port have used one of those usb hd sticks with the hdtv usb port to get over the air hd content. now that would be cool.

lol...I must have missed that.

Not sure how it works on xbox, but from what I have seen, the cheapy USB tv tuners always seem to have driver problems and such, whereas the good ones install as soon as you plug them in. (On PC that is)

First and foremost...Happy Birthday!

Secondly, I think by PC slot (well, this is what Acer means by it with my TV) means VGA/DVI.

get this one. it's the same as the one you're looking at, just no remote. you don't need the remote since the one you have is better.
