Cooling Idea?
Ok so I saw what the guy in this thread has done http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=155946 and though why not do this...
I am thinking of buying this right here http://cgi.ebay.com/TECHNI-ICE-GEL-P...ayphotohosting and putting it on top of my heatsink to lower temps. What do you guys think? Edit: its late, so I'll check the posts in the morning, thanks.

I think water is going drip all over your board and capacitors and ruin your computer.

Well how did that guy manage to do it?
Plus this has a covering over it, wouldn't that help?

Anything that cold is bound to create condensation.
You would then have to seal your board and chip, just as you would do when installing a peltier. As to why his pc didn't die, pure blind luck. Do remember that he did switch off pretty quickly when the condensation started. Anytime you start cooling things to below that ambient room temp, hello condensation.

Even if you had a cover, im pretty sure youd have to fully insulate your entire mobo because of condensation.

If you used it for benching with your pc outside,if its cold enuff outside, possibly condensation would'nt be a problem,as the parts in your pc would be cold enuff to stop condensation.

Ok I see and of course I knew about condinsation.
I did this test recently... I took some ice and put it inside a plastic bag and then had a blow dryer blow hot air on it for a while to see the results before trying to place it on or in anything in my computer(I'm always looking and thinking of cheap ways to cool my computer lol) suprisingly the only thing that happend was the ice melted and I ended up with a bag full of water, but there was no condinsation on or around the bag(I don't know if it was the plastic or what?). So if I bought this and put it in the same bag, maybe it might just work. I really apprciate yalls concern and I don't mean to do anything that would damage my parts, but I'm just trying to be creative.

The air from the blow dryer was dryer than the ambient air, hence it absorbed the moisture.
There is the chance that you won't have any condensation to deal with, but that's a rather expensive gamble.

I suppose you could simply dump lots of those absorbent gel packets on your mobo.
![]() I accept NO responsibility for any mishaps based on that hairballed suggestion.
