What are some good free malware, adware, etc. scanners??

I have the free Adware 2007, but I also ran another program that required you to buy, but it would scan to show what you have on the system and it showed some stuff the Adware 2007 couldn't find. What would ya'll recommend me to use that's free?

Adware 2007 is a good app, just keep it updated.

That other program was just probably showing you fake shit. They do that so, you run it and its l ike 5000000 spyware and adware and shit and its like in order to remove them you must buy the program. I hate it when they do that...

I would highly recommend:

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.52: http://www.safer-networking.org

A-Squared: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

Windows Defender if you have XP(comes with Vista): http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx

Ad-Aware is crap. It doesn't detect a lot of stuff. I guess Spybot S&D is the better free tool though it couldn't detect a keylogger which my Zone Alarm Pro could.

AVG Free is good. I use it on my computer and my file server too. And Windows defender is great for a free real time scanner that's not intrusive, but I suggest using Spybot Search and Destroy with Defender.

oh, and since that other program is sayin you got to pay to see what's wrong, odds are that it's malware. That's what SpySherrif did on my dad's computer, and I had a hell of a time removing it.

i would have to recomend avg, ive used avast for quite a while, but as of late ive been having problems with avast detecting viruses, because last night i was having a few issues with my system so i dl a few different anti viruses, and kaspersky, and avg found the same viruses, and cleared then right up, and their scans seem to go alot faster than avasts, ps kaspersky is only a 30 day trial, but if your willing to "pay" go with kaspersky

Download all of em and run em on a rotation

I use AVG and Spybot S+D. The TeaTimer function in Spybot is very nice, anytime a registry change is made it alerts and asks you for permission. Provided you know what you're doing, it's excellent at stopping malware..
