Riva Tuner Tweaks...
Right, in Riva Tuner, as many of us know, there's some interesting stuff. I've been fiddling around with it and in the Direct3D tweaks, in Textures there is an option called Texture Memory and you can add how much of system memory should it use, as an extra memory to the GFX's one.
I've added 256 MB, tested that in Crysis, and it helps for sure, but my question is, from where does it take the memory from? HDD? RAM? |

probably ram that seems like the most obvious answer.

do you understand how this works? have you tested it if it gives better/same/worse performance?

I can see the value of this perhaps in a game like crysis that demands a lot of memory, but under normal circumstances I would have thought that using system memory slows everything down as access times are greater......anyways does a game not draw from system memory in any case once it has used all the on board GDDR?

The same thing can be done in BIOS under the option "graphics aperture size". I've set mine to 256MB, whether it makes much difference in games or not, I don't know, but I've got 2GB so I can't see it being much of a drain on the RAM.

Doesn't a game like crysis steal ram anyway for textures? I'd think rivatuner would just be more for limiting it or perhaps forcing it to use more.
