Wow. This thread can still be replied to? All these threads that are stickied should be allowed to drop down. Who still worries about X800 or HD3800 cards anymore? More relevant topics should be stickied and anyone needing this ancient information should have to search for it.

X800 missing part question, located on PCB B28 ?
< A piece fell off my x800xt ( B28 ) left edge of top from VDD blue pencil <When video card is powered; the fan spins up but it gives me a black screen with an error that power plug was not connected, which in fact it is properly plugged in and powered by molex connector. The missing part on the PCB location B28 is the source of my problem. I don't know what this (B28) was as there are no markings on the one in the picture. I guess the missing part has something to do with the memory side of the card. I've lurked around several forums over the past several months and nothing, only guess was maybe its like PCB part B21, from this picture there are similar. My x800 xt was the second video card I ever purchased and has sentimental value to me. I can solder a replacement missing part, if I knew what it is to be replaced with. SO...where can I find informational source on what the PCB markings on the card represent? |

It is nice to see that someone is still modding X8x0 cards but it is realy time to un-stick the thread and to send it for "deserved" rest. |

I having a bit of difficultly learning proper skills needed to make advanced modifications to video cards. How does one go about finding out what parts are located on the video card.
I need to solder on a new part ( B28 ), I'll order the part from from an electronic part supplier aka. digikey. But I don't know what this part is, as there are no markings for reference a suitable replacement part to order on the part itself, only on the pcb marking B28. My skill level is now to the point I can advance from pencil scrubbing to small part replacement soldering or variable resistor bridging to avoid graphite displacement. Understanding the use of a multimeter, feedback loops, offset loops and line noise. I lack the knowledge of finding a repository of pcb documents for part reference of various video cards. Any help would be appreciated in this area. |

ATITool asks for a Kernel Mode Driver on starting.

I want to use ATITool to have a look at my card features. I've downloaded v0.26. On starting, the program asks for a Kernel Mode Driver: Code:
The Kernel Mode Driver does not seem to be running. A device driver is required for communication with your video hardware. Please help. Regards P.S.
