Lexar Media Announces Special Edition Crucial Ballistix Tracer Red 2GB Memory Modules

Lexar Media today announced the immediate availability of Special Edition Crucial Ballistix Tracer Red 2GB DDR2-800 memory modules. The new modules feature two rows of red activity-indicating LEDs, red ground-effects LEDs, and a red printed circuit board (PCB) stylishly covered with a striking red heat spreader with a raised, diamond-cut logo and clip-less design.

"Crucial Ballistix Tracer Red 2GB 800MHz modules are designed to impress both inside and out," said Jeremy Mortenson, Lexar Media's DRAM Product Marketing Manager. "Hiding beneath the attractive casing is our award-winning Crucial Ballistix 800MHz memory, which maximizes performance through high speeds and low latencies. Plus, they are available in our highest capacity modules to date."

Crucial Ballistix Tracer Red memory modules offer latency timings of 4-4-4-12 and are available immediately in 2GB modules and 4GB kits at www.crucial.com/uk, www.crucial.com/eu, and in Nordic regions through Komplett. Product availability in the U.S. is expected in Q2 2008.

Finally a Ballistix with a different color! I might get this to complement my PSU seeing as though the orange pair matches absolutely nothing inside my rig.

One question, why is Lexar Media announcing this, I though Micron owned Crucial.

Honestly I think they are doing this to try to make more money since ram prices are so low.

I wouldnt sell them short yet....Crucial has a nice way of putting out some great performing "SpecialEdition" stix. Look at the Lanfest !!!!!

They usually cherry pick the IC for these editions!

Hey there, as part of the Lexar Media PR team, I wanted to respond to these posts...it's great to see everyone following our news!

Crucial Technology and Lexar merged to form Lexar Media...Lexar Media is a subsidiary of Micron Technology. So, Lexar Media is still part of the Micron family, and still receives great product directly from Micron. Crucial Ballistix (and Ballistix Tracer) high-performance memory is now a brand of Lexar Media....same high-quality memory products as they've always been!

For more information, feel free to check out our About Us page at:

http://www.crucial.com/company/index.aspx

Thanks for your interest, and I'll be checking the message boards over the next couple days to see if there are any other questions.

I don't have any pricing info at this point in time...however, the Crucial Ballistix Tracer Red modules should be available in the US in the April timeframe. Check out www.crucial.com in April to get all the latest and greatest info.
