ATI blew its last chance

well my 8800 died because the PSU died, that i understood but explain this one to me, new PSU using a 1900XTX i traded for, playing COD4 online after 3 hours the comp locks up, when i boot back up it posts but the screen is artifact city. Im starting to think ATI cards sense my hatred of them and just fail. Untill i get more money im running a Matrox Millinium PCI card i had lying around thank god for small miricles.

Later today im taking it box and all and will pump a few shots into this 1900XTX

right, 2nd hand card...

anyways, since no-one else appears to have your falure rate with these cards, one could imagine that all of your cards have been "trades" or you just kinda suck with pc's somewhat?

anyways, every single ATI card I have had since I started gaming have only failed under my specific torture.

I lost an x800 costing nearly £400 back in the day when my TEC setup I originally had failed. Melted the case and most my stuff.. strangely my prescott cpu survived that one.

Lost an x1900xtx when i clipped a component off when attempting to fit a tec block (replaced with another x1900xtx)

Maybe it was just a bad card u traded for? who knows

Edit: Hey, I also had a matrox millenium card

well my 7200, 7500, 9200SE, 9600pro, 9800pro, and x800GTO where all new cards. This card ran for 2 years in another computer fine, i get and and pop goes the card. The only stable ATI card ive ever owned is sitting in an IBM Aptivia and its ATI Rage IIC intergrated. Other than that they all blew to hell. Funny thing is Nvidia cards die and i know why, all of those did the same thing this one just did, artifact at boot screen, so there is really only one real conclusion to me, ATI sucks.

Every ATI card that I have purchased (9800, x850 XT PE, x1950xtx(s)) still works fine. They run a bit hot, so I up the fan speeds on the boards that support that.

Every NVidia (GeForce) card I've ever purchased worked fine (except for driver issues, and there were many)

Every FireGL card I have purchased works fine.

Every NVidia Quadro based card I've ever purchased (Made by Elsa, Gloria series 1,2 & 3) died a horrific death and had to be replaced. The replacements all failed too.

Other than the Elsa cards, all my GCs have performed fine.
So it must be you Candle

Every single manufactured good comes with a failure rate. You were using a used video card, thus it isn't necessarily ATI's shortcoming.

Do you live in the desert? Do you not let fresh air from outside inside ur home? Keep your room above normal hot? No air circulation inside and thru your case? Do you use crappy unreliable PSU to power ur power hungry GC? Do you use an unreliable mobo that cannot supply adequate power to the GC?

If you answered 'yes' to any of the above no matter what card you buy will die.

I sent a brand new ATI 9200 card which is passively cooled, but I sticked a small fan on it, to India. Damn it ran hot because the room the comp has no air circulation (because my mom is allergic to dust). It died in 4 months. My bro never game. He does photo and video editing.

Whoa man, you have some bad luck with graphics cards.

The only thing that died in my case is a GeForce 256, never discovered why, it just stopped working.

Don't mean shi.... Same thing could of happened with the GT.. For you to blame only the v card is just single minded... HEY! maybe you damaged the PSU when you overclocked the PSU who knows.... And as for how many gone wrong on you i would start looking to blame other than PSU or v card lol.

Been building PC's since the ISA days and not had the crap you had.
