Hard Drive Suspension

My hard drive is really loud...i mean i can be in the den where my computer is and walk up stairs and sometimes still hear it in the bathroom and my bedroom.

I saw that some guy suspeneded his hard drive with elastic band/rubber band like things, and I was wandering if this would really work???

If not is there a way to make it shut up???

just take the hard drive screws out and put rubber or foam or somthing under it to cushion your hard drive. that should work

Usually not noticable, unless you completely pack it in sound absorbing stuff.

As long as you don't put in loads, heat won't be a problem. Hard drives don't tend to produce all that much heat compared to other parts of your PC and aren't effected by a bit of an increase.

listen to me heat is a problem ! if ur datas ARE precious.

most of the time mine experience about noise(hdd)
, it's been for bad installation , imean balance (horizontal,v).

also sometimes when hards become HOT they become noisy.

or when u have alot of mini size file on ur hard drive (it's also about ur Pt format).

btw if do somtin like sound proof ur hard NEVER ever Forget to put a ventilation hole some where !

@ last when HDD's closeing to their ENDs they become noisy ! if i were u certainly make a backup form my data .as i do sometimes ago .

Is the sound a constant sound of the disk spinning, or is it from reading and writing (this will cause a grinding sound when loading games and applications). If it is only happening when the drive is reading and writing you could try using Systool to change Hard Disk Accoustic Management (at a very SMALL loss in performance in some cases). If it is just spin noise this won't help.
